This singular piece consists of 1000 7x7” works on paper created between March 2008 and Dec 2009.

Each part is a circular monotype which is modified individually with pen, pencil, ink or paint.

The imagery in the modification or drawing was suggested by the initial print and arose in the moment of working.

The first template was made as a hand drawn circle while on residency in the west of Ireland, a place rife with detail, where the minute echoes the monumental; and everything, rock, bird, human, sky appears to be cut from the same cloth. There, something informative and generative arose in the repetitious documenting of familiar structures and order, creating relationships between memory and the experience of this world. The project continued back in New York where these microcosms became Petri dishes in which, almost daily and spontaneously, visions of longing or alternately pure pattern were given equal space.

I feel more and more every day, as my imagination strengthens, that I do not live in this world alone but in a thousand worlds--No sooner am I alone than shapes of epic greatness are stationed around me, and serve my Spirit.” (Keats, October 25, 1818)
